To Goodbyes and New Beginnings

Gopal, Arihant, Yajat · mar 19, 2026 · 4 min read · #club

Whew. That was quite some year for the Open Source Developers Group, or OSDG as we like to call it.

Through HackIIIT, Build2Break at Infinium, Worst UI Hackathon, Build With AI, Frieday Ricing, Intro to GSoC, Intro to Git, Intro to Bash and Automation, all the way back to the first few days for UG1 on campus where we helped them enter the world of Linux and open-source, OSDG has never had a better year. And that’s without mentioning all the projects that we have had immense pleasure working on the past year.

(We were having so much fun we didn’t even realize it was our tenth anniversary last year.)

And none of it would have been remotely possible without the help of our members. So, in no particular order, we would like to thank the current team:

@Shaikh Haris Jamal, @Venkata Naga Sai Kaushik Yadala, @Advait Dintakurti - For ensuring our events go from being ideas to reality. And for being there at all times whenever we needed them.

@Vedant Rahul Kulkarni - For keeping up on top of all his academics and other numerous responsibilities while still being one of the most active members and speakers of the club.

@Shravani K - For finding some of the coolest companies to sponsor us.

@Pragati Prasad - For being active on social media and ensuring people heard about our latest developments, and somehow make OSDG look cool to the general audience.

@Aman Jayesh, @Ananya Kasavajhala, @Anushka Sharma, @Ananya Sinha, and @Aryan Patel - For getting designs ready in the nick of time, and listening to our completely wrong opinions on what good designs should look like.

@Adithya Kishor, @Aarnav Pai - For ensuring hundreds of UG1 smoothly installed GNU/Linux on their laptops without a hitch.

@Mohit Singh, @Shreyas Deb, @Aryan Maskara, @Animish Sharma, @Abhinav P V, @Aviral Gupta - For working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our projects running.

And of course, Prof @Karthik Vaidhyanathan - For being the guiding light of the club.

It’s hard to talk about OSDG without talking about the people in it. Because at the end of the day, that’s what we’ll remember, not just the events or the projects, but the moments in between.

We’d also like to thank @Clubs Council & @Student Life Office for their constant support throughout the event, especially @Vamsi Krishna and @Prabhakar M. We’d also like to thank the assistance staff, for making sure everything just worked behind the scenes

@ECell IIIT-H and @Felicity IIITH for having us as collaborators on Megathon and Infinium and helping grow a shared builder community around it. It’s always more fun when we build together.

And now, it’s time for the next chapter. To keep the flame lit, we would like to introduce to you the new face of OSDG:

@Advait Dintakurti and @Abhinav P V as the new Coordinators! 👏👏👏

They will be leading a highly capable team of new recruits, who are:

To people who weren’t selected - just because we didn’t have a vacancy this year doesn’t mean you give up on open-source! Open-source is much bigger than any one club, and some of the best work happens outside of structures like these. We really hope you keep building, keep exploring, and keep putting your work out there.

And finally, whether you attended an event, contributed to a project, showed up to a session, or just followed along quietly, we would like to thank you. You were part of this year in ways you might not even realize.

We’ve always believed that OSDG belongs to its community. And it always will. We would love to see you guys take OSDG and IIITH as a whole, to far greater heights than we could ever imagine.

Signing off, Gopal Kataria, Arihant Tripathy, Yajat Rangnekar No-Longer-Coordinators, Open Source Developers Group
